I have actually practiced Buddhism for over 50 years. Practice includes; Faith, Practice and Study. Maybe because I actually chant twice daily which is sn actual physical practice which we do to “fuse” (use whatever adjectives you like) with a “universal vibe” so as to be in harmony with ourselves and our environment. I can honestly say: The few times I ever worried about “security” were when I was in jail!

Each year, millions die prematurely from air pollution, and the WHO reports that 99% of the global population breaths air exceeding pollution limits. Air pollution is especially detrimental to children who are still developing their lungs, immune systems and brains. According to UNICEF, hundreds of millions of children are exposed to severe air pollution and climate-related risks. The IPCC, on the other hand, predicts that with significant reductions in emissions, rising temperatures, the loss of biodiversity, scarcity of water and extreme weather will create increasing threats to health, food security and the economy.

The question today is no longer about whether human systems are causing environmental degradation- it is about how quickly we can change our system before the damage is irrevocable.

One technology alone nor one policy will be sufficient for the task, but an AI-driven global network protecting the environment, connecting governments, businesses, scientists, communities and people through real-time data will be.

Picture this: satellites, drones, IoT sensors and AI systematically monitoring every forests, river, ocean, wild animals, quality of the air and emission of carbon. Illegal logging, oil spills, pollution and trading of wild animals will be detected within minutes rather than months, whereas digital twin of ecosystems will simulate environmental impacts before the construction of infrastructure, while autonomous robots will restore coral reefs, plant trees, clean the ocean plastic as well as monitors rare wildlife. Transparent carbon markets and sustainable supply chains will be created with the help of blockchain, and fraud will decline significantly.

Artificial Intelligence will optimize renewable energy grids, predict flood and draughts of floods several weeks ahead, identify diseases in humans derived from the change in environment as well as enhance allocation of government resources to sectors that need it. Precision agriculture coupled with AI technology and intelligent irrigation systems will increase food production while consuming less water, while circular manufacturing system designed to recover useful substances instead of dumping valuable materials will greatly reduce the amount of trash.

The greatest beneficiaries are children who will be able to live healthily with clean air, safe water and balanced ecosystem as they will be protected through health care system backed by solid infrastructure while also receive relevant and practical education for green career in schools converted into climate-resilient learning center powered by solar energy.

Governments should increase long-term investments in renewable energy infrastructures, AI-enabled environmental monitoring, resilient health care systems and conservation efforts as well as climate adaptation. Businesses should invest into environmentally-sound innovations and also make the environmental and social performance the benchmark of their economic performance besides profit. Universities, research centers, entrepreneurs and communities ought to work together so as to come up with brilliant technologies to be adopted worldwide.

Clear and transparent indicator should be developed and used to assess progress with objective evaluation of performance. Such indicators shall include reducing emissions of toxic gas to the atmosphere, boosting the numbers of animals across the ecosystem, expanding renewable energy sources and reducing dependence on fossil fuel, improving children’s health, clean rivers and water bodies, forest restoration, lowering gas emissions.. Publicly traceable progress is needed for accountability of every nations/communities in the globe.

In the 21st century, nothing will make us more proud than achieving advanced Artificial Intelligence that protect the environment rather than harming it, creating an economy that helps nature recover instead of eroding it while ensuring healthy air for every children's lungs and safe water to drink before they inherit a world filled with life.

The societies that will prevail are those that understood nature conservation is not cost but the best investment a society can make. We have technology, resource as well as knowledge for this. However, what we really need is farsightedness from our leaders, cooperation of global communities and guts to take action before the present environmental disaster becomes humanity's disaster.
